Obstetrics-Gynecology Quincy
Dr. Brett McGowan comes from a family with a rich history of military service. He was born on a US military base in Germany and was sure he would be a pilot in the military someday. Then his mother got sick. “I saw what a good doctor could do for their patient, ” he said. Dr. McGowan’s life direction changed. He joined the military, as so many of his family members had before him. But instead of a pilot Brett McGowan became a doctor. During the third year of medical school, he found his specialty. “I have a passion for providing women’s healthcare, ” Dr. McGowan said. “The birth experience is a very intimate time for a family and I feel honored to be welcomed into that setting by families who entrust me with their care.” “Healthcare decision making is a shared responsibility, ” Dr. McGowan continued. “My role is to give information and advice. The patient is the one who makes the decisions." A husband and father himself, Dr. McGowan also has a passion for biking. A veteran of three Double-Century rides (that’s 200 miles), he regularly bicycles 50-100 miles a week.
