I believe in providing compassionate care and believe that taking the time to listen to my patients is the most powerful diagnostic tool. I also feel that taking time to answer questions and explain things to my patients is time well spent. I have always said that practicing medicine is not only a privilege, but also a craft best done with a team approach. Involving the input of the patient, family, nurses, and my colleagues makes for better care. I was raised in the Midwest in a large family that includes five brothers. My father often told us growing up that there are very few people who can say that they love what they do and enjoy going to work. I count myself in that minority. I feel lucky to be in a position to do what I do and consider myself a better person as a result of getting to know the patients I have had the privilege to care for.
